A few weeks after the article about her affair with Trump ran on The Dirty, Daniels got a phone call from someone at In Touch magazine. In May 2011 she sat down with In Touch reporter Jordi Lippe-McGraw. “She was just the same way she is now—very matter-of-fact about it,” Lippe-McGraw told us. “She wasn’t trying to make it into anything more than it was. It wasn’t like a love affair they had. In fact, it really kind of seemed like—I guess transaction isn’t the right word, but more of kind of an opportunity. Like, ‘Hey, I’ll sleep with this guy, maybe it will lead me to potentially get on The Apprentice or it might just be a good networking opportunity.’”

In Touch also gave Daniels a lie detector test, which she passed. They told her they would be reaching out to Trump for comment, which is standard practice in journalism. What isn’t so ordinary is what happened next. Daniels was in Las Vegas and had just parked her car to go to an exercise class that she was running a little late for. Her infant daughter was in her rear-facing car seat on the passenger side of the backseat so Daniels walked around the back of her car to go get her out. As she was trying to unbuckle the baby, a man approached her. “I saw his Converse shoes first,” Daniels wrote in Full Disclosure. She looked up and saw a “hot guy.” He was wearing what appeared to be expensive jeans and a gray hoodie with an asymmetrical zipper. “He looked like a cross between Kevin Bacon, Jon Bon Jovi, and Keith Urban. A sharp, angular face.… He had a very kissable mouth. Like if you were talking to him in a bar, you would be like, ‘I really just want to touch your lips.’”

Daniels said she figured the man was lost and was getting ready to offer directions when he said, “Beautiful little girl you got there,” looking at her daughter. She thanked him and asked him what building he was looking for. He ignored the question, and continued: “It’d really be a shame if something happened to her mom. Forget the story. Leave Mr. Trump alone.”

The magazine ended up killing the story because when they called Trump looking for comment, his lawyer Michael Cohen threatened to sue if they ran it, CBS reported. Once news of the affair came out in 2018, In Touch dug up the old interview and published it.
